Lego Therapy - FAQ's
Do I need a Referral?
No, one of the notable advantages of Lego therapy is that it typically does not require a referral from a general practitioner (GP). This accessibility makes it easier for parents or caregivers to seek help for their children without the need for an additional medical appointment. Lego therapy services are often available through qualified and licensed facilitators who can be contacted directly, allowing for a more streamlined and convenient process.
This direct access not only reduces potential delays in receiving therapy but also empowers individuals and families to take proactive steps towards addressing their emotional and behavioural concerns. It ensures that those in need can readily access the specialized support and intervention that Lego therapy offers without the prerequisite of a GP referral.
What does Lego Therapy cost:
At Brick Nic, our LEGO therapy program is designed to be accessible and inclusive. We welcome NDIS clients, private clients and clients from other funding sources. For further information on the cost of Lego Therapy session please contact Miss Nic.
How long are my child’s sessions?
Brick Nic offers weekly Lego Therapy sessions, which run for 50 minutes. A 1hr block will be allocated to your child’s appointment to allow for transitions in and out of the Lego room, and pack down time.
Please note that we generally do not discuss issues concerning your child in front of your child, if you wish to discuss something important, please call or text Miss Nic ahead of your session time.
We generally run on time for Lego Therapy sessions however, occasionally we may be running behind time. If this does happen, we will extend the session to give your child the designated time allocated.
If you are running late for a Lego Therapy session, we will be still finishing at the scheduled time unless there has been an agreed rescheduling of the session time in advance so that we are on time for the next child attending.
What are the options for Lego Therapy sessions?
Lego Therapy session options are:
· Group sessions (generally three (3) children but no more than four (4) per session)
· One on One
· Sibling sessions
Children can attend both one on one and/or group sessions. Some children may need to commence one on one sessions to begin with, then transition to group sessions in their own time.
Do I need to stay for my child’s appointment?
We ask that you stay in the waiting room for at least the first session that your child attends and then check in with Miss Nic. If your child is settled, you are welcome to leave during your child’s sessions however please keep your phone nearby in case we need to reach you.
If you do leave the office during your child’s appointment it is important that you are back in the reception area before your child is due to finish.
If your child needs hands on assistance with toileting or is in nappies, we ask that you stay in reception as this is not something that Miss Nic can assist with.
How do I pay for Lego Therapy sessions?
Payment can be made on the day via eftpos (square), direct deposit or an invoice can be organised (with prior arrangement).
If you are using NDIS funding to pay for your child’s appointment, the method of payment will be discussed as part of your service agreement.
Do you accept Medicare or private health payments?
Our organisation is fee for service, so we are able to accept private paying clients or NDIS funded clients only.
At this stage, Lego therapy services are unable to rebated through Medicare or private health insurance.
Are you NDIS Registered?
No we are not registered with NDIS, however, we accept clients who are self-managed or plan managed through NDIS.
Can I ask for a report about my child’s play therapy progress?
Yes, Miss Nic can put together a report for you that will outline why your child initially engaged in Lego therapy, what progress they have made and recommendations for further support. These reports generally take us 2 hours to write and are charged for at the hourly rate. Miss Nic will be able to give you a rough idea of how long your child’s report will take before they start writing.
Please ask for reports well before they are needed. If Miss Nic has a full calendar of appointments, it may take them 1-2 weeks to get the completed report to you. If you need a report urgently, please speak to Miss Nic to see what she can do.
What sort of contact will I/we have with you about my child’s Lego Therapy sessions?
Miss Nic will phone/text you after the first Lego Therapy session to let you know how your child went and to check and see how they were after the Lego Therapy session. You will then have a full parent consultation after every 8 Lego therapy sessions or on request.
If anything happens between sessions that is traumatic, worrying or potentially disruptive for your child, we would appreciate you letting Miss Nic know about this by phone or email. Also, when you notice positive changes in your child, this is also helpful for us to know.
